Iowa Hawkeye Fans Get Free Entry to World Cup with Iowa-North Texas Ticket Stub

World Cup race organizers announced that all 70,000 ticket holders to the North Texas - University of Iowa Football game will receive FREE entry into the Telenet UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup and Deschutes Brewery Beers and Gears Craft Beer Festival on Sunday, September 17th at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Iowa City.

World Cup race organizers announced that all 70,000 ticket holders to the North Texas - University of Iowa Football game will receive FREE entry into the Telenet UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup and Deschutes Brewery Beers and Gears Craft Beer Festival on Sunday, September 17th at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Iowa City.

"We want to introduce this cool sport to a huge loyal football crowd with the Iowa Football fans," said race director John Meehan. "These people love good outdoor sports and love a big party even more, and that's what cyclo-cross is all about."

This is an enormous opportunity for football fans to see an exciting sport with non-stop action all while having a huge tailgate style party and Oktoberfest at the same time. "Spectators in Europe pay 20-25 Euro (about $25-$30) to see a World Cup cyclo-cross event. Cross is their biggest sport and they seego to a cyclo-cross event just like Iowans go to football in the US, " said Meehan. "A World Cup spectator audience in Europe can get up to 60,000-70,000 fans just like our Iowa Hawkeyes."

World wide television coverage of all World Cup eventsprovides an even bigger audience with 8-10 million viewers per race, more than 10x the average Iowa Hawkeye football TV audience. "Iowa people may not know realize that our World Cup is a huge global sport. These athletes are the very best bike racers in the World. They are Olympians, World Champions, and National Champions."

The entire 3 day Jingle Cross festival has plenty of activity. "We have bands, DJ's, beer, wine, food and more. We also extend the fun and activities to the families because we know how important the family experience is for Iowans." The World Cup day on Sunday September 17th will include a free kids activity zone, face painting, and kids events.

Friday and Saturday pro racing will be under the lights provided by Musco Lighting from 6-10 pm. Friday and Saturday's are free and no ticket stub is required. A general admission entry fee is required for Sunday but admission is complementary if you went to the Iowa-North Texas game on Saturday the 16th. Just show your Iowa-North Texas Ticket stub at the gate on Sunday and receive a free general admission pass. VIP options are available on our website too.
